Blogs have soared in popularity recently and with websites such as WordPress offering customers the chance to make a great looking blogs, it’s now easier than ever to get writing on the web. If you love to write or give your opinion, then setting up a blog could be a great hobby for you that could even turn into a career.

Here are five ways that you can market your new blog successfully:

1/ Firstly, Get Writing

Before you start trying to get your blog noticed on the internet, you need to get writing plenty of posts. Give your blog an exciting name and theme, then write as much and as often as you can. It’s important that you keep up to date with writing or people who visit your blog won’t return. If you have lots of posts for viewers to read, they’re more likely to subscribe to you. Make sure you decide on a target audience for your blog, and write posts that they’ll appreciate.

2/ Interact with Other Bloggers

Get out there and start interacting with other bloggers on the internet. There are so many people doing it, so to drive them to read your blog, comment on their posts and communicate as much as possible. If you get noticed by a popular blogger they may even advertise your page to their followers.

3/ Use Social Media to Its Full Potential

Social media is a fantastic marketing tool and you must use it for your blog. Get yourself set up on Facebook and Twitter to interact with even more people and share every post that you upload. If you’re really keen, you could even get a YouTube page set up and start posting audio blogs/videos to reach another level of consumer.

4/ Get Adverts

There are loads of websites available on the internet that can offer you advertisements all over the web. They’ll be able to promote your blog to people who might be interested to drive even more people to viewing your work. While this can be costly, it’s definitely useful for getting yourself known on the web.

5/ Understand the Marketing Industry

To successfully market your blog, you need to understand the industry and learn all of the tricks. Instead of spending loads on advertisements you could learn to advertise yourself. Get enrolled on an online course such as an online bachelors of science in marketing to arm yourself with all the knowledge you need. By studying for an online marketing degree you can help your blog and even open a new career path for yourself if your blog doesn’t take off.

Writing for your own blog can be fun but can also be something to pay your bills. If you’re wanting to make your blog more than just a hobby, then you need to get it noticed on the internet and gain a loyal group of regular readers.

Make sure you write about something you’re passionate about to be a success!

This is a great post! I definitely think content is key, although I always do try to make the most of my social media accounts to share it all, although it does sometimes slip my mind.

Thanks 🙂 I’d add that you don’t have to be a master of everything (It’s impossible) but good to really be active on a few xx

Great tips! Definitely agree about interacting with bloggers. I have made much more of an effort this year to chat to other bloggers, and comment/share content and it really does make a difference. Not only do I have a good network of people I can trust, will listen to me rant/moan/ask a million questions, or share my content, I also get to have a good natter! I find it hard to fit it all in whilst working as a part time teacher, but it is slowly paying off xx
