Ok, Ok. Yes I do remember that blog post that I wrote – the one where I said I wouldn’t vlog and where I questioned it. I mentioned that vlogging is not for me – and where I stated that I just didn’t see the appeal. Quite a few of you commented (and said you agreed) and we all stood unified that vlogging was not the way forward for us.
BUT…I did say at the end of that post “Never. Say. never“.
Well, two years into my blogging journey and I am going to have a go! I am currently switching my camera and iPhone onto ‘video’ instead of being permanently in photograph mode and am going for it – making little clips here and there and embracing the world of real-life and chat.
Vlogging is quite different from my current blogging process at the moment. Currently my blog posts are written out, I style and shoot my photographs and then edit them in iPhoto. A lot of my time is spent creating text.
Videoing, however, is SO different. Even though you can style the shot and edit the clips it is still quite unforgiving (I am cringing at the sound of my own voice!). Yet it has more personality and warmth than a blog post and you can convey a lot more feeling.
I am not ditching the blog at all because writing and photography is such a passion of mine, but my plan is to be using vlogging to further enhance this blog. I think some of the work that I currently do could be better shared via video – such as our lives, mum-life, and our home & interiors updates. I will therefore use the two to compliment each other. My YouTube channel can be found here – if you fancy a peek and hopefully subscribing too!
There is a lot for me to learn (again) but I am up for it and am excited to give it all a whirl. Plus it seems like it is just great fun!
So here goes…my latest vlog is below and it is my first proper ramble!
What do you think? Any top tips?
Love, Jess x
