Center Parcs – we are feeling Christmassy now!

As you know from my previous post, we went to Center Parcs in the Lake District this weekend. To the ‘winter wonderland’, with our twins Harry & Lottie, and our good friends and their little boy.

And as I type this tonight I am totally shattered from it!

The trip didn’t start all that well though. I trimmed Harry’s hair on the Thursday night before, and he moved and I took a huge chunk out…! Hubby was furious. So excuse his silly fringe (or lack of it). Bless him, he said he didn’t mind…but I learnt the hard way that I must never do that again and leave it to the professionals!

It is so lovely at Whinfell Forest, and so nice to get away from all the housework and the chores – however all the walking and the fresh air is exhausting! Leaving the car behind at the car-park and not using it all weekend is lovely, but makes you realise how lazy you are back at home!

It was quite cold all weekend, although we wrapped up warm and didn’t mind at all. Sadly there wasn’t the snow that was promised on the forecast – and so there were no snowmen built this weekend!

We arrived early Friday as we had the early check-in. After a few walks and dinner, we settled in for the night with a few wines and g&t’s!! The twins settled reasonably well (even though they were VERY excited!). The lodge was lovely and spacious and we had more than enough room between us all.

On Saturday we went swimming to the pool, which was one of the highlights of our trip. The twins loved it so much. Especially Harry. He and Hubby were going down the slides, and Harry showed no fear at all! The Splash About float suits that we were given to try out were superb. They have removable floats inside, which meant that Harry and Lottie could use their arms and it gave them buoyancy in the water. They were also easy to carry about wearing them, and you could hold their hands and pull them along in the water and their faces didn’t submerge. As they are very safe, it made us relax more knowing that they were not going to slip under the water at any point.

Lottie wants to take penguin swimming wearing her Splash About suit!

Sunday was a busy day. We went to play sports in the sports plaza in the morning, and then we saw Santa and walked around the grotto in the afternoon. The weather was a bit rainy that day – however it didn’t dampen our moods. Another highlight of the weekend were the fireworks over the lake on Sunday night. Amazing and a bit breathtaking too. The twins weren’t scared and actually quite liked it!

Meeting Santa will stay as our favourite memory (well, for Hubby and I – not for Harry and Lottie). Harry wouldn’t look at him and Lottie was a little freaked out. So this is our photograph. Not the perfect family shot, but hey…we will laugh about it in years to come!

Feeling very Christmassy now after our weekend, and looking forward to the big day!!!!

Please note: we were given the suits by Splash About for the twins, to review.

Brilliant. So pleased you had a great time. Looked like lots of fun. Love those swim suits. I’m sure the girls would love something like this when they are old enough. Xxx

Thanks!! Hopefully Harry won’t mind that his first trip to see Santa was with the WORST haircut ever 😉 Maybe that’s why he hid! Jess xx

I’m not surprised you’re exhausted! What a fantastic and Christmassy weekend, perfect for getting in the spirit. The photo with Santa is so funny! The kids aren’t having it are they?

Nope!! They hated it. Typically our friends little boy (who is younger than the twins), was fine! No tears or weird face! Kids are so embarrassing!! Jess x

My husband gave our wee boy the exact same hair cut last year! I was devastated! He had lovely curly hair and it all had to be chopped off to rescue the mullet that hubby gave him! We now only ever get it cut professionally!

Your photos are amazing! It looks like such a lovely weekend and I would not have noticed Harry’s hair, I have done that on more than one occasion. Lucas just hates the hairdressers so I think, ooh I’ll just give the fringe a quick trim then it all goes wrong, when will I learn?! It sounds bliss to cosy up of an evening with a few drinks in the forest. So glad you enjoyed it xx
