I can’t believe that after just one more school term the twins will have done a whole year of reception class. It only feels like five minutes ago that they were both starting primary school together, so little and sweet, and it was such a big deal and new chapter for all of us (mostly me).
They’ve been amazing at school. Apart from some wobbles from Lottie about going in on some mornings they’ve both embraced school life well — and we’re so proud of them. Their reading and writing is coming on so well, it’s amazing; I can’t believe how much they’ve learned already.
The six week summer holidays for us will be a mixture of travel, doing some fun days out together in the UK, as well as time at home and (hopefully) in the garden. I like a mix of busy family-life with many, many lazy days thrown in too.
As soon as the twins break up we’re off to Majorca for a week to a lovely hotel in Palma Nova. We’re so excited for yet more sunshine because we really enjoyed our Gran Canaria break this year. I’m hoping it’s as beautiful there and that we have another amazing week of making memories together.
It is a press trip (i.e. it’s being given to me in return for coverage here on my blog and on my social media channels) and I feel SO lucky that I’m able to do this for my family as a result of my work.
Plus, having a holiday booked is such GREAT motivation to keep eating healthy and get fitter, ready for beach bodies! Both Dave and I are on a mission once more. We’re both back on our app, My Fitness Pal, daily recording our food, drink and exercise. We both tend to be really good all week (no junk food or booze) and then blow out a bit more on weekends…hello pizza and Prosecco. It’s all about the balance baby!
Work never stops completely when I’m on the school holidays with the children, but I’m lucky with what I do in that I can slow down much more and push back on things. I also tend to use a local holiday club or friends to help me with managing some deadlines. Plus, in between, I get the twins to help me with taking photos too!
Hopefully Dave will get a few days off over the holidays, plus we will visit some family during that time too, such as my sister and my Mum.
What are your plans this summer?
Love, Jess x
