When the new year came we decided to search the web to book a family holiday as soon as possible, as we couldn’t wait for the summer. As it was still fairly early in the season we therefore went for Gran Canaria — where we knew we’d get the sun (because we all fancied some Vitamin D after a VERY long winter in the UK).
Dave’s always been the one out of us both that spends hours researching locations and hotels online (then trawling Trip Advisor for the reviews) and I must say that he did a brilliant job of finding us a superb hotel in Gran Canaria. It really was a lovely week away during Easter and we had a wonderful time. I would highly recommend it.
We stayed in the Radisson Blu resort & spa hotel in Puerto Mogan. It was modern, spacious, had lots of pools (including a fun splash pool for kids), good facilities and the staff were really friendly. The food and drink wasn’t too pricey either (we were half-board).
I’ve had so many DM’s on Instagram asking whether this resort was family friendly…and it absolutely was. It was nice mix of family fun with touches of luxury. We were also a 2-minute walk from the supermarket and a few restaurants and shops, plus a 10-min stroll down to Puerto Mogan to the beach and harbour, which was gorgeous and full of more restaurants and shops.
I wrote this blog title because everyone truly had a wonderful time; there were barely any tantrums thrown (including from us adults) and I wanted to be honest in here rather than appear to be sugar-coating something that wasn’t true. We genuinely all didn’t want to come home and the twins said it was their best holiday ever. I think it helped that Dave and I both had a break from working too and totally switched off from all things work & life.
I think you could tell from our Instagram Stories that we had a fab week.
Kids Club was included in the price but the twins didn’t want to go, even though we made it sound VERY exciting. No books were therefore read by me on this holiday!
I’d definitely go again and recommend it to friends — it’s ideal for a week away in the sun, in a lovely hotel but where you can also escape and explore some beautiful places on foot really easily.
Dave is now planning the next trip as we speak.
Love, Jess x
FYI — We paid for the hotel and everything ourselves. Dave booked it through Expedia and we flew separately with RyanAir. We were half-board. We hired a car for the week through Top Car.
