A few days ago I blogged and vlogged about how I wanted to get myself back up-to-date with fashion, style & trends. Since having the twins 4 years ago my own fashion has taken a back-seat as my life has been filled with so many other things. But once more I am back and loving everything to do with fashion & style again! Hurrah!
I can’t stop looking around and following stylish people on social media for hints and tips on what’s hot right now. I am really excited to be shopping for myself again.
It seems that one of the key 2106 trends (that is everywhere right now) is the pleated skirt. I have seen this on so many friends, bloggers & celebs in many different colours and styles – plus it is all over the high street. It seems to be trendy to wear it with a plain or slogan tee, and with flats or pumps for a casual style. And then adding in a denim jacket or a bomber jacket to complete the look.
My gold skirt shown here is from about 5 years ago (maybe even more!) from River Island, which I have worn to a few weddings. Until now, I have never thought of dressing it down and making it into a casual piece! So I have added a white tee from Next £7, that I bought last week, which I think makes it look feminine and yet summery too.
I tried mine on with my Converse pumps and it looks OK, but as I am only 5ft 2in I feel as though I need a tiny bit of height to the look. So I have added in these SUPER comfortable metallic gold tone wedges that I picked up last week from TK Maxx for £25. They are the kind of wedges that you could walk miles in and not get any sores from. They are really soft and fit so well. I think I will be wearing them with everything for the rest of the summer, and getting them in a few more colours too!
Hubby picked me up this cream Mulberry bag recently in a charity shop in London and I absolutely love it! The rose-gold, oversized watch is an Uncle Jack one that I was sent by them recently.
Where would I wear this outfit?
I would wear this to do the school run, to meet up with my freelance clients or to go for lunch with my friends. I think that it is comfortable, practical and yet really pretty. It is also a great alternative to a dress.
What do you think about the pleated skirt trend? Have you tried it yet?
Love, Jess x
