5 ways to style a pair of shoes

I’m a really busy Mum of (almost) 5-year-old twins. The majority of my week revolves around them. My typical weekly tasks involve the preschool run, running errands, shopping, meeting clients, the preschool pick-up, making dinner, bath & bed. As well as housework and ALL the other jobs that go along with being a Mum!

Because I am getting them ready in the morning I don’t really get a lot of time for myself, nor do I have a huge amount of time to dedicate to style & fashion! However, I have been on a real mission for the last 9 months to dress more stylish and feel more confident about my clothing choices.

As a working Mama I need outfits that are going to 100% deliver for me – all day. That I can do the school run in, that I can then go on to town in, or that I can pop out to meet clients with. I haven’t got time to go home and get changed several times a day and so I need to get it right first thing in the morning. I also haven’t got time to spend hours selecting my outfit each morning.

I need to be as comfortable and practical as possible all day – without really compromising on style too much.

One way that I have found that I can add a little glamour into my wardrobe is with a pair of wedges. These type of shoes give me a smarter look (rather than wearing trainers) and means that I can go and meet friends or clients during the day too.

The lovely people at Moshulu have sent me this absolutely gorgeous pair of red shoes (Peach Melba style in Cherry colour) – perfect for my Mum wardrobe. I can dress them up or down and they go with nearly all my outfits! Moshulu do colourful shoes and have a fantastic range of sandals, boots (including flats) on their website too.

Here are my weekly outfits and 5 ways I have styled my new red shoes:

1// The school run.

I either walk the twins to school or drive them, currently they attend preschool 3 days a week. They start in reception class full-time in September! Good walking shoes are therefore a must!

2// Out & about in town.

I often nip into town during the week where I spend some time picking up flowers/running errands/having coffee in a cafe whilst catching up on emails. I love this kind of outfit (below) for days like that. A jacket really gives a pair of jeans a sophisticated look.

3// Working from home & meeting clients.

I spend a lot of time working from my home office, which I love. I have made it into a light, bright space. I also meet up with clients during the week when I need to catch up with my social media management work. I therefore make sure that I’m dressed smart and yet comfortable too.

4// Meeting friends & lunch out.

I like to catch up with my friends as much as possible with coffee dates (when the twins are at preschool). I also try to have lunch with Dave to try to get some kid-free time together. On these occasions I try and wear a dress or something a little different to jeans.

5// Weekend time.

At weekends we all tend to spend a lot of time at home, in the garden or just staying fairly local. It’s nice to catch up, relax and hang out together.

Great ideas, I certainly need to start making smarter choices when it comes to clothes. You kind of get sucked into “comfortable” when you become a mum and I would really like to dress more trendy.
