I am pretty safe when it comes to clothes and my look – 90% of the time opting for jeans/trousers, a grey or striped sweater and a pair of boots or pumps. Pretty standard Mum-wear (if thats really a proper thing these days). However, in order to shake things up a little and add a hint of glamour, and stop my look becoming way too ‘boring’, I like to use accessories.
I’m talking watches, bracelets, necklaces, sunglasses and bags.
If your wardrobe is quite tame and not very daring (like mine) then adding a little bling – without going too OTT – can jazz up a casual day-to-day outfit. Touches of silver, rose gold and yellow gold works really well…and gives it a more expensive look too.
Another great thing about this approach is that you can change your look quite quickly, to keep up with current trends and yet without spending a total fortune every time something new comes out. For example by buying costume jewellery, or by shopping on the high street, or in charity shops, you can keep on trend.
For my own accessories, I don’t wear earrings anymore (since the twins used to pull on them when they were babies) but I do like to wear a watch, bracelet and necklace every day. I also wear sunglasses too when I am out (if the sun is out) even in winter – and I love a nice handbag.
I have recently been sent this gorgeous Henry London watch from the WatchShop.com and I adore it. It has a gold strap and black face and actually feels more like a bracelet. It is a unisex watch and I actually love how masculine it looks too. It arrived in an official Henry London presentation box and has a guarantee.
I think it ‘pimps’ up my casual style a bit and also gives my outfit a feature. Plus the new watch is SO practical, as I’ll never be late for the school run again!
watch: Unisex Hampstead, £125
