All frills and lace

Frills and lace top by Next

Like I’ve said before, style-wise 2017 so far has been all about making a BIG statement. Big sleeves, big frills and lots of lace. The bigger the better.

As a Mum of two myself there’s only so far I can take this trend without feeling like I’ve gone a bit ‘over-the-top’. My wardrobe needs to be fairly practical and therefore I can’t be dashing about after the children with frills all over the place! However. I have been introducing slightly bigger sleeves and more lace into my wardrobe lately.

And I quite like it.

This broderie ruffle top from Next has been worn by a few bloggers via Instagram and it has caught my eye. The choice is either navy or red. I opted for navy, because…you know, I always play my fashion pretty safe!

I’ll be really honest – the shoulders on this are fairly wide. They can potentially make you feel a lot wider than you are! So keeping the trousers skinnier is best. I’ve gone for white jeans (below) however, a crop trouser would also suit this look.

Top, Next £38 // Jeans, NYDJ £129.95

Shoes, Oasis (old) // Bag, Laura Ashley (sold out)

I’m also keeping it on trend even more by adding in red shoes (red suede or velvet shoes & boots are HOT this season) with a red lip!

There’s also a Monsoon version of this top going around social media in black & also in white, which is pretty amazing…

This kind of top is a little too much for going to playgroup or doing housework in, however it is ideal for work-wear, plus it’s perfect for going out & for dressing up at weekends/party wear.

This outfit that I am wearing above is ideal for Cornwall this week (we are going with a big group of friends) for when we go out drinking one evening. I cannot wait to wear it. Do you like the lace trend?

Love, Jess x

You look gorgeous Jess and it looks lovely with the white jeans. I was wandering around Sainsburys today and noticed that sleeves are big at the moment. Infact I *may* have sneaked a new top (first one with big sleeves) into my basket x

I LOVE this top Jess, looks great on you! Don’t know how much it would suit me though, as even though I’m a size 10 I’m quite broad up top with bigish boobs so think I would need to size up and it would make me look like a frilly tank!

It does make you feel a bit ‘bigger’ on top but it’s really pretty and feminine and looks amazing with jeans or with skinny trousers xx
