Getting my ears pierced and statement earrings

One trend that I’ve been really hankering after for some time now yet haven’t been able to wear myself, are beautiful, statement earrings. They seem to have got bigger and bigger over the last few months – and are now forming a large part of women’s outfits.

The trend is also set to carry on into spring/summer ’18.

I got my ears pierced back when I was sixteen. My parents didn’t want me to have them pierced until then and so as soon as I turned that age I marched off to the local place (alone) and got them done. It probably cost me about £5 or so and in those days you had to keep them in for six weeks.

After that I usually wore basic gold studs and liked to wear more fancy earrings to go out in.

And then I got pregnant and the twins came along into my life – and, like nearly everything else to do with style during that time, I simply ‘forgot’ to wear earrings during the day.

Over the last five years or so I haven’t worn them at all and when I tried recently to put a pair on, they just wouldn’t go through (and I felt a bit sick!).

So this week I thought that I’d have them re-done professionally so that I could join in with this chic and stylish trend, plus I love jewellery and miss having some bling in my ears. I went into a local place in town and it cost £40 plus the cleaning solution and gold-stud earrings. FYI – they pierce them into a slightly higher (or lower) place in your ear rather than re-piercing the last place.

Afterwards I dashed straight out and picked up these two absolutely gorgeous pairs from Mango, which are going to look amazing for spring/summer style, as well as our upcoming holidays in six weeks to Gran Canaria!

I can’t change mine for three weeks, so as soon as I can I’ll be back here to show you them on, as well as more styles and shapes that I’ve currently been coveting.

See below the inspiration I have been pinning on Pinterest and examples of the images that have swayed me into wanting to recreate this gorgeous look for myself.

Exciting! I did manage to repierce my second holes recently after not using them for about five years… although it did make me feel slightly sick too. They’re good now though! 😆
