Ahhh red. It’s not really a colour that I own much of (if anything). I looked through my wardrobe the other day and realised that the only red items of clothing that I actually owned was one red New Look dress and a pair of red, suede Oasis heels (very old). I also VERY SADLY remembered that I recently sold a red double-breasted coat from Next on eBay and I’m mad at myself…because it was really on trend and would have been perfect for this season!
It’s everywhere at the moment, isn’t it? Think bright ankle boots, smart red coats, cosy jumpers.
I tried on a H&M breton top recently – which I shared on Instagram – and although nearly everyone told me to buy it I went for this Next one (below) instead. The frills on the H&M one were hard to fit underneath cardigans & blazers and I just felt unsure of it. This one is absolutely perfect for wearing with jeans & boots, or trainers for the school run.
Top, Next £15 // Jeans, Debenhams (old) // Boots, Next (old)
I would normally run a mile from wearing it as a colour in my day-to-day wardrobe but there’s something quite appealing about this look. Plus a breton tee is just the best Mum uniform and it gives a simple outfit a bit of ‘jazz’. This 3/4 sleeve top is ideal for under a coat or blazer in the current cold/warm/cold weather!
I have added two necklaces and a gold watch (and my obligatory morning coffee) to accessorise this look.
For more inspiration from around our amazing high street here are some more bits to get carried away with this season!
