My 5 style hero pieces this spring

Last spring/summer I really started to find my own signature style after losing my way a little after becoming a Mum and having my baby twins. In 2017 I started to get more confident with clothes again – and, in particular – found out what really suited me.

I will therefore be going into this year’s new season with a real passion for what I want to wear now, as well as informed about purchasing new clothes.

If you’re also looking around at the moment at the ‘new-in’ sections from your favourite clothing brands, and want to invest in some hero pieces this spring, then here are my 5 suggestions for getting yourself a stylish wardrobe.

1/ Blazer

I’ll be wearing blazers again a lot this spring/summer. Not only are they incredibly stylish but they really smarten up a causal, day-to-day outfit. They come in a verity of styles, shapes and colours. I tend to go for slighter shorter ones myself, not too long, as I’m fairly short – and also because I don’t want to feel as though my outfit is all about the blazer.

2/ Sunglasses

Forever in style, forever chic…plus they hide VERY tired Mum eyes! I always wear sunglasses and they add a really cool look to any kind of outfit. You can invest in some expensive ones (which will last you a long-time if you care for them) or go for a trendy new pair from the high-street. Cat eye sunnies are going to be huge this year.

3/ Jeans

Always in my daily wardrobe, jeans are my no.1 hero piece – as a busy Mum I live in them all week. In spring/summer 2018 I’ll be going for mostly cropped jeans, that show my ankles and I like to wear mine with trainers and ankle boots.

4/ Tee

You cannot go wrong with a few good t-shirts in your wardrobe. They are also a great way to stay on trend and up-to-date. A stylish tee can transform a basic outfit and are great if you work from home, wear casual clothes at weekends, or are a stay-at-home-Mum. A nice t-shirt with jeans combo is a hero outfit and is great for warmer weather.

5/ Accessories

I love accessorising my outfits; a nice handbag, watch, necklace and bracelet can make an outfit look so much better.

The hot trend of the moment is hair in a pony tail and BIG, statement earrings. I thus need to go and get my ears pierced again sometime really soon (mine have closed up now!) so that I can join in with this gorgeous and chic look. It’s perfect for summer days and beach holidays when the weather is hot and you want to tie your hair back. Add lipstick in for real glamour.

Here are my favourite hero pieces from around the high street and clothes I am lusting over right now:

Blazers are always a winner and just pull everything together. Can’t wait until it’s warm enough to wear them instead of coats!

I find it really hard to find my signature style, I want to be wearing up to date looks but find that most do not suit my frame – I’m 5ft – things tend to look baggy and not well put together. I really like the look of blazers and simple styles, I guess it is just finding the right one.

Absolutely! I have really struggled for over 12 months now to find the right clothes that suit me. I’m getting there but I definitely still make mistakes. Try lots of things on in shops and you’ll soon get used to what really suits you. Don’t always go for the latest trends though – they don’t always suit everyone 🙂 xx
