The classic blue shirt: with a twist

the classic shirt - with a new twist

Is anyone else bored of the sweater & jeans combo yet? Oh my. I mean, I love a good jumper as much as the next person, but I’m a bit over it and am in desperate need to wear something else right now. Come on spring – show your face! We need, need, need to ditch the heavy coats and cashmere..and we long for floaty tops, blazers, skirts and bare ankles.

This season the blue, city-banker shirt is back – but not as we know it. It’s got a twist. All over the high street right now the shirt has bold stripes, frills, is collarless or it has BIG sleeves. The shirt has been taken on in 2017 and throughly deconstructed and modernised.

Mine is from the New Look sale – for just £15 – and it has some frill detail detail around the neck-line however, you can go as OTT as you like with this trend! I already have my eye on several gorgeous shirts for spring/summer!

The shirt & jeans look has always worked perfectly – for a classic, stylish outfit. However, by adding in the new-style blue shirt it gives it all an edgier feel and therefore looks more on trend.

Putting it with trainers gives it practicality & comfort (perfect for me for the school run) – but you could add in boots or heels for a more glamorous look. A shirt can make an outfit look more ‘expensive’ and chic too I think.

Here are some amazing blue shirts with a twist from around the high-street that I’m lusting over right now…

Do you like this trend?

Love, Jess x

I was bored of sweaters until I saw the latest collection from Hush the other day and three seemed to have slipped in to my basket and are winging their way to me 😉 I do love a shirt, though, although with sizeable bosoms, they’re a little difficult to pull off without too much gaping and flashing of flesh.

I love reading these posts Jess, if I saw that in the shop I’d probably walk past it but it looks great on you. Nice to see what it looks like on a real person and how to wear it. Although I do tend to have the same problem as Rachel, they never sit quite right on me! I seriously need to get some top shop jeans though!

Oh I love that shirt! I’ve been feeling like I just wear the same long sleeved plain tops and jeans recently so I’m looking to branch out. I just bought myself a few checked shirts which I’m really liking – will keep my eyes peeled for some nice ones on New Look too! x
