When you become a Mum, heels and pretty footwear mostly becomes something of the past (apart from work, weddings, date nights or events). Because when you’re in charge of small people, all of a sudden you need to be quick, comfortable, practical, nimble and on your feet ALL DAY.
Flat shoes have thankfully made a comeback recently (phew) and that is amazing news for us Mums. And they’re not boring or frumpy anymore either – they’re cool, stylish, edgy and massively on trend.
Whatever you want to call them – trainers, pumps, sneakers, kicks etc they are not only super stylish, but they’re also the epitome of comfort. I mean, win, win! They also come in a range of prices and will usually last you for ages.
In the spring/summer I wear mine with cropped jeans (ankles showing) and then in the winter I add in a pair of black socks too.
At 5ft 2in I can’t really wear trainers without feeling super short (and typically most of my best friends are so tall!) but when you’ve got twins and a busy life dashing about everywhere trainers are the best thing ever.
There are so many styles and versions of trainers around, but if you stick to something fairly plain then they’re unlikely to go out of fashion quickly. I always tend to go for something classic as it means they will last me a lot longer and go with most outfits in my wardrobe.
Trainers do literally go with everything. Jeans, formal trousers, dresses, skirts. Always keeping your ankles on display in an outfit with trainers (or flats) means that you’re more on trend and it also gives the outfit a more modern and stylish feel.
I am loving the new ones in the shops right now and here are my favourites that I am lusting after…
