Transitional wear – summer into autumn

New pieces for a new season: into autumn

Oh my. Talking ALREADY about autumn style and the onset of a new season and chapter in our lives. I’m SO not ready to go there yet, are you?

I find the passing of another summer really depressing and it takes me quite a long time to adjust when the sunshine fades and the darker nights start setting in.

One consolation – and a really exciting part of entering a new season – is the fashion it brings! I have said it before (exactly this time last year!) but I absolutely, 100%, totally adore autumn/winter fashion. Jumpers, boots, coats! I love it all.

At this time of year though, approaching the end of August – it’s still warm-ish most days but it can also be cooler – meaning that we’re all starting to look towards purchasing more of a ‘transitional wardrobe’. One that means you’re not incredibly hot during the last summer weeks, but that also means you’re not freezing either. Who knows what the UK weather will bring each day?!

Late summer and early autumn means denim jackets, boots with dresses, cardigans, shirts and light sweaters.

Wrap London very kindly sent me this absolutely gorgeous Connie dress (£119) recently, which I have teamed with boots (Dune London) and a tan bag (Monsoon) to help me transition into a new style season.

This dress is light and floaty (it will help me to look summery for now) but this will also be perfect with tights in the autumn & winter months. I’d currently wear this kind of outfit on a weekend spent with my family, or during the week meeting my friends for coffee.

Here are some more ideas for transitional clothing from our wonderful hight street right now, to get you into a late summer/early autumn kind of mood.
