Diets and fitness: 4 weeks until our holiday

Getting fit for our summer holiday

So seeing as it is May we can now officially say “It is our holiday next month!”. Which is very exciting indeed!

The whole of April however (in our household) meant one thing only – chicken pox. Both Harry & Lottie suffered with it (2 weeks apart) and so the whole month was filled with sickness. I am glad to have it all out of the way now but wow, did it wipe us all out.

So anyway, back to this month, and the fact that our holiday to Levante Beach, Rhodes with Mark Warner is just one month away!

I am running to keep fit and healthy whenever I can. Trying to run during the month of April was tough (with chicken pox and the Easter holidays) but I have been getting out where possible.

My new TomTom Spark GPS fitness watch has recently arrived and I just LOVE it already! I haven’t had a chance to set it all up on the computer yet but after a quick charge, I set it to ‘run’ and off I went!

TomTom watch - getting fit for a holiday

I can now see how fast my heart rate is, my pace and how many miles I am doing – which up until now I thought I was doing around 3 miles on my route but sadly it was just 1.9!!!! Must up my distance.

I will keep you updated on my progress and how the watch and I get on over the next few weeks.

My second (and probably harder challenge) for the holiday is that of the diet. OK well I am not dieting as such, I am just not eating biscuits or chocolates all night, every night.

Dieting and eating well for a holiday

It didn’t help at all though that the lovely people at Lindt sent me a huge box of these amazing chocolates! Rather naughty indeed, but I took it around to my friends house on a girl nights in, and shared it out between five of us, so that is being good right?!

Lindt chocolate - very nice!

My diary is now pretty free for May and so I can set my mind to sorting out holiday clothes, packing and getting us all ready for our first family holiday abroad in early June!

So it’s salads for dinner – and absolutely no cake.

Love, Jess x

Argh don’t talk about holiday countdown! I go on Saturday…I have well and truly fallen off the exercise wagon. This week I will step it up. Luckily I seem to fit in all of my holiday clothes still-phew! Having two little ones means I don’t get to sit down much so that has probably helped 🙂 ps love your watch, I have polar m500 and love it!

I’ve been thinking about getting back into shape and eating better recently too. That TomTom watch sounds amazing, and you can listen to music on it too?? I love the idea of being able to see information on how you’re doing, I bet it’s really encouraging to keep going with your efforts or to try harder.
