Moving into a brand new, new-build home with twins – wasn’t as I had imagined it. If we had moved around the corner then making decisions on bathrooms, tiles, kitchens and carpets would have been done at the show-home office, with a coffee and many, many samples laid across their floor – with me perched above them – deciding which colours would go best together.
Instead, because we were moving 160 miles away, and the twins were always with me, these decisions were rushed and nothing like the above. I was usually harassed and mostly under pressure to make a decision in 5 seconds flat.
Luckily we chose well. I am SO happy with the details and finish. Perfect.
One of the decisions we made was to carpet the entire house in the same colour. We decided on the colour ‘putty’, which actually looks lighter in real-life than in the photographs. However it seemed more practical than cream, which I have had before, and that shows every stain.
Especially the stair carpet, which always gets a lot of traffic.
I like our choice throughout our home, and for our hallway, but I do also like stair carpets with stripes and character. I may therefore change the stair carpet at some point in the future, when the other one is worn and tired, and add some colour into our hallway. I do feel as though stair carpets with colour add character and warmth into a hallway.

For now though you will mostly find me trying to maintain the clean look of our new carpet – and make it look as wonderful, shiny and new for as long as possible!
