Time for a new sofa

Selecting a new sofa

Since we moved into our new build home 6 months ago, the living room has looked very ‘unfinished’. We have put a fireplace in, and had the walls painted but the main issue has been the large corner sofa. It fitted into our last home beautifully, and was perfect for relaxing on and entertaining, but in our new living space it just doesn’t fit and looks out of place. We have therefore been living with half of it in there, and the other half in the playroom! Not great!

We therefore NEED some new sofas…and fast. But I haven’t been able to decide on style, colour or shape and wanted to wait a while to find the right fit.

I’ve been swooning over leather ones. Why? Well they look great don’t they? Plus they are so stylish, never go out of fashion and they are really practical when you have two little ones who like jumping on them and eating chocolate! Plus the more they age the better they look.

They can be a little more expensive than cloth but are totally worth it, as they last so long. They are an investment.

Furniture Village have a great range and so I’ve been lusting over them! Trying to pick the perfect one for our new family home.

I just love the one pictured above (top photo) – the Small Leather Chesterfield sofa (currently £1,495) in brown leather. Gorgeous. So practical and perfect for kids. And it looks really grown up too – very sophisticated. It might be a little too classic-looking for our home, although we do have a chair to match it that currently sits in the hallway that we could move into the living room to keep costs down.

Going a bit more modern, which our new-build home now exudes, is this one below. Which I really love. The Macy scatter back sofa (£1,395). I love the colour of it – our walls are now white too – and so this style and shade would work really well against the modern, Nordic look.

And I also love this one shown below – the Astor. It is currently £595 too which really suits our budget. I like how chunky it looks and comfortable.

Hubby and I can’t actually agree on this issue though. We do usually agree (aka he lets me make all the home decor decisions!) but he really wants a reclining sofa. Whilst I agree that they are SUPER comfortable and great for chilling out, I am not sure I truly love them myself. He really does though and so might win. Might have to try them out and see!

It is such a big, important decision as we spend a lot of family time together on our sofas relaxing and watching movies and so I am really conscious we need to get this one right.

I’d love a sofa or two that we enjoy spending time on and that also really compliments our home.

Wish me luck!

Love, Jess x

p.s. you can find all the above sofas on the Furniture Village website.

I love that Macy Scatter back sofa, looks gorgeous! My parents have a reclining leather sofa and although it doesn’t look as pretty as the Macy sofa it is really comfortable! Ill look forward to seeing what you choose! X

We had a leather sofa and it grew with the boys, and weathered shark invested waters, pirates and being used used trampolines. I felt sad when we changed it a couple of months ago, but now the boys have grown out of jumping on them and imaginative play we were brave enough to get a fabric chesterfield sofa and I love it.I took us 2 years to choose though ha ha x
