As a busy Mum of two little ones I don’t get into London much these days, despite watching other people on my Instagram Stories pop in and out all the time to many different lovely events. In my previous role of HR Manager (pre-twins) I would travel all over the country and often be staying away with work; it was a large part of the job. These days the school day is particularly short and since we moved to Worcester just over 2 years ago (away from both sets of Grandparents) we don’t get the luxury of being able to call upon them whenever we need to. I am lucky though that in that my current work I can work predominately at home and have all the resources I need to do what I do.
But sometimes you just need to make these things work, don’t you? And I am finding lately that meetings and exciting events are coming up more and more and I don’t want to miss out!
I had a meeting to attend and a dinner in the evening with Sainsbury’s Home so I tied the two together with a stop over too (as well as adding a little spot of shopping and coffee). Luckily everything was in and around a similar area once I landed there.
I stayed in the CitizenM hotel in Shoreditch, which the kind guys there arranged for me. It is incredibly stylish, perfectly formed and ideal for anyone seeking a mini City break. It was exactly what I was looking for regarding my one night stay. I was comfortable and it was in an superb location for my couple of days there. The room had everything I needed.
CitizenM hotels pride themselves on high quality but no fuss; it’s affordable luxury. The bed was incredibly comfortable, plus the free wifi went down extremely well from this happy blogger.
You can find more about CitizenM hotels here including more of their hotel locations and all the facilities.
Travelling alone without the twins is very odd but also quite good for the soul. And whilst I missed them all a great deal it was nice to read a magazine in peace, plus I got so much work done on the train too. Luckily the trains were on time and (this time) it was a fairly smooth trip.
I have also found though when you get out of the routine of travelling a lot for work it suddenly becomes slightly daunting and turns into a big deal (especially when you’re solo). For me this is especially true about central London and navigating the tube because I am not terribly familiar with my surroundings. Planning and preparation before it was therefore key.
A delicious Christmas Dinner with some lovely lifestyle & interiors influencers and the Sainsbury’s Home team at the Hoxton, Holborn.
I’m hoping to get to London more in 2018 and enjoy attending similar events next year.
Love, Jess x
Please note: I received a one night complimentary stay at the hotel.
