5 things I’m loving in November

This month has turned SO much colder hasn’t it? Gone are those days of wondering whether or not to put a coat on in the morning; now it’s full-on big coat weather. Brrrrrr. As soon as the twins are in bed at night I just want to pop on the twinkly lights, light a candle and snuggle under a throw to watch TV with Hubby.

Winter is coming.

I don’t normally love November. It’s not usually my favourite month; mainly because the dark mornings and cold weather always feels a shock to the system and the HUGE buzz of Christmas is still a little way off. However, this year I am using November to try and get as organised as I can for the big day. I’m aiming to do little things in small chunks throughout November in order to spread out the large Christmas to-do list and to avoid any last minute panicking. Because no-one wants that now, do they?

But there are some other lovely things making me smile this month. So here’s what I am loving and wanted to share with you:

1/ Being organised

Yep, me again *puts hand in the air*. Yep, I am banging on about this – again! But really…the time management tips & principles that I talked about in my last blog post that I’ve implemented in the last week have literally been game changing. Getting myself more organised and stopping any unnecessary procrastination when I am working from home has been amazing for my freelance set-up. I even feel more positive and energised as a result.

The best thing has been getting up in the morning and knowing what I am going to be working on that day and sticking to it – rather than faffing about wondering what to start next and then going off into social media (and never coming out). It sounds a bit boring and strict, but I highly recommend it if you are self-employed, work from home, or feel as though you need a little more focus to help you achieve more. I’m looking forward to taking this approach into the new year too.

2/ Starting my Christmas shopping

Every year I leave this job until the last minute and find it HIGHLY stressful. This year – no way! I have been out shopping a few times and picked up lots of gifts & bits already. I have a list of everyone that I need to buy for and I’m ticking them off as I go along. Again, doing a bit here and there is helping so much and actually making me enjoy the build up to the festive season. I’ve done a mixture of online shopping and been into town.

3/ Beauty

The lovely folk at Philosophy kindly sent me this gorgeous Love & Grace set a few weeks ago, which I adore – thanks guys! It has body washes, as well as a 120ml perfume. It is lovely and definitely a little treat for my skin, which is taking a hit lately from all this cold weather. Oh, and this all smells utterly divine too.

This would make a gorgeous gift for a loved one this Christmas.

4/ All the grey

Call me boring (go on, it’s OK) but as much as I have tried my best to wear plenty of other colours lately (like red & ochre) I still can’t stay away from grey. However, to make sure my outfits don’t get too dull and drab, I’ve been adding in other touches too. Such as a leopard print and leather-look trousers…you know, to jazz it up a little.

Now that Jack Frost is making an appearance in the morning it’s also now officially bobble hat weather – YES! This means that I can leave the house on bad hair days and no-body needs to know otherwise. Winning.

I picked up this super cosy grey jumper from H&M last week. I wear this kind of outfit on the walk to school or for running errands during the week.

5/ Nativity time

If anyone else has children doing a school nativity play this year then HOW exciting is it?! I literally can’t wait. The twins have been coming home singing the songs from reception class already and it’s the cutest thing ever. I remember watching the nativity plays on TV show ‘This Morning’ when I was a student (Richard & Judy had a different school every day doing parts of the show) and I used to sob then and I didn’t even know the children!

I’m therefore very excited to see my own babies performing it this year and will be a proud Mama. Sometimes it’s little things like this that make you really wish they just wouldn’t get any older and stay little forever.

Happy November guys…

Love, Jess x

I bet you cannot wait for the nativity, never fails to make me cry! Lucas actually has a line to say this year and my twins are a sheep and a shepherd so I’m very excited too! I’m really loving November this year as well, I think I’m not ready to go on full on Christmas yet, (although I have started shopping!!) so I’m just enjoying the weather and cosy nights in and beautiful trees. I’m also going to go and have a read of your organisational tips, sounds like I could do with a few of them! xx

I think grey looks fabulous when you brighten it up with a bit of leopard print. I’ve got that coat from New Look and life in it! I’m not organised yet but you’re inspiring me! The perfume and bubble bath looks gorgeous, my girls would love it. xx

The New Look coat was such a bargain as I live in mine too. It’s good quality too for the price. xx

Yes to all the grey! I’m a fan too 🙂 And bobble hats. My girls’ school only does the nativity play up to Year 2 so all of mine are too old for it now *sob* I’m so sad! I bet your two will be so cute – do they have a speaking part each or are they singing as part of a group?

I love how organised you are it is really motivating. Sadly there’s no nativity this year for my 5 year old apparently they skip all festivities in year 1 at her school, which is no fun. I too am obsessed with grey, in the house and in my wardrobe.

Ahhh bless. Poor you! Grey all the way – it’s my go-to colour xx

Oh Jess! You are putting me to shame. I had intended to have all the Christmas shopping done by the beginning of December, but this SO isn’t going to happen. I predict a stressful December coming my way, as per! xxx
