Even though the summer holidays are now here – and it’s therefore a time to take things slower, without the rush of the preschool run – I still find myself crazy busy. This is because I have to entertain two lively 4-year-old twins, as well as meet all my work commitments too! I find that the summer can be full-on and that my regimes and routines go to pot a little when my babies are home with me so much more!
But it’s still so important for me to maintain my health and fitness and also to keep my beauty routine in my life right now. Especially with my skin & hair being exposed to sun damage.
So here are the 6 ways that I am getting style, beauty and fitness into my busy Mum-life this summer:
Now that the summer holidays are here (6 weeks of the twins being with me 24/7!) I still need to workout however I can’t go to the gym during the week, like before. I have therefore started doing 30-minute workout classes via YouTube on my TV in the living room. These are brilliant as they are a quick way for me to add a workout into my day. The twins often watch or join in! There are absolutely loads of classes available online and I have tried a couple of high impact cardio ones so far.
2/ Tired eyes.
No matter how much sleep I get these days, or how well rested I am in the day, or how much coffee I drink, I feel tired A LOT! My eyes have the worst dark circles underneath them!
For the last week or so I have been using this Stress Positive Eye Lift from Dermalogica available at UK Beauty Club and I love how cool and soothing it feels. It helps reduce puffiness, which I get when I wake up. You leave it on for 3 minutes and then massage any excess into the skin. I use it before I apply make-up. It has been making the skin around my eyes look and feel firmer.
Even though we’re in the throws of summer, I don’t have time to sit in the garden for hours on end getting a glowing all over tan, sadly! If we do go out into the garden to play I have to pop back in and out for towels, drinks, snacks and rarely sit still for long!
Fake tan is therefore my BFF and I love it. It means that I can get my legs out this summer and wear some pretty dresses. I am loving St Tropez and this new mousse I have been using is so effective and it really does cover well. I use a tanning mitt and put it on every few days or so.
4/ Shopping online.
There’s NO way I can drag the twins around the shops with me this summer without them becoming incredibly bored, and so I don’t. We pop out here and therefore coffee and to buy a few things but I wouldn’t subject them to a shopping trip for clothes for me! So I order online and save up my solo shopping trips for the weekends!

5/ Whiter teeth.
Each evening I have been using a teeth whitening kit from the dentist that I picked up a few weeks ago. I have always had quite yellow teeth (which dentists have always said are healthy) yet they make me feel a little self conscious. The kit costs about £250 so it wasn’t cheap and the progress is slow, but I can see changes now and they look brighter already. I’ll keep you updated!
6/ Hair care.
I have very little time to curl or style my hair in the mornings and find it hard to let it dry naturally as it is so frizzy. UK Beauty Club kindly sent me these amazing products recently below from Moroccanoil.
The shampoo and conditioner hydrate my hair and have left it feeling so amazing! The Moroccanoil treatment is for applying to damp hair before styling and it is helping my hair to feel less damaged. I love the feel of my hair already!
