August goals

We’re in August now (eeeeeek) and well & truly into the school summer holidays. How’s yours going? OK I hope.

Ours is going OK. I’ll be honest, all the constant talking at me is hard work! — as well as wanting ALL the snacks — but on the whole we’ve had a lovely time so far. We’ve done a mix of a few nice things out, as well as time being at home.

I enjoyed setting myself some goals back in July and so I wanted to do it again for August. I once again wanted to set down some little goals to help me power through this month.

Here goes..

1/ Running 10k. Shocked face. But, seriously, now that I’ve already run a 9k I’m actually feeling as though I can do the big one. I got some new trainers recently as my feet were killing me and they’ve made a massive difference already. I got them from a specialist sports shop and actually went up a size and a half. No wonder my little toes were being squished. I’ll keep you guys posted on my progress and hope that anyone following along is also hitting their running goals too.

2/ Get ready for school. Probably a little boring this one but totally necessary when you’re a Mum of school children. I want to make sure that I have all their uniform, PE, book bags etc all ready for early September. I’ve already ordered a lot and want to keep staying organised. They grow so fast and need a lot of new things. I still can’t believe they’ll be going into year 1. Sob. Sob. Sob.

3/ Take work in a fresh direction. I have no idea what I mean here. Zero. But lately I have found that I have been craving a new venture/something else to get excited about. It’s not that I don’t enjoy what I do, but I think I need something else to challenge me. I’m still wanting to stay within the blogging and influencing arena but possibly try out new things. Like I say, no idea what *that* is as yet (there’s only things brewing for now) but hopefully they’ll develop ready for back to it in September. I am taking some time over the summer holidays to mull it over, gather thoughts, look at my passions and skills, and try to decide where my next steps will be.

4/ Pack. So our Majorca holiday is just 19 sleeps now (YAY) and so I need to start opening the cases and washing all the clothes. I’ve tasked Dave with sorting the holiday insurance and airport parking etc to keep him busy (lol). It’s getting very close now and we’re SO excited. After all the emotions of dealing with Lottie’s broken leg in June, and the crazy end of the school year, I feel rather ready for some R&R.

5/ Read. I am loving reading again and am almost done with Dolly Alderton’s, Everything I know About Love. I am enjoying it and it’s an easy read. I want something new for my holidays though and am looking around now for recommendations. My aim is to read as much as possible this year.

That’s enough for now to keep me busy! Happy August and I hope you have some nice plans ahead for this month.

Love, Jess x

Some great and realistic goals. Well done on the running, I don’t know how you do it I’m puffed out after a 5k.

There is something satisfying about being all organised for the dreaded back to school saga, we look forward to the summer holidays so much but they whizz by ever so quickly and then we are waving our little darlings back off to school. I do think the holidays play havoc with blogging/social media motivation and to be honest I haven’t really got the time to blog but am trying to stick to my schedule. It is hard as I would rather be out with the children but am too tired when I put them to bed. I feel like routine goes way out the window during the summer, and this glorious sunshine cannot be missed.

Have fun on your hols, how exciting!

Yes routine goes well out of the window! It is hard to manage everything. I love my September fresh start but equally am loving how lazy and happy I can be right now. Happy holidays xx
