July goals

my-july-goals

With July now here, and with only 3 weeks left of the twins first full school year (oh my, where has that gone?!) I’m all about looking at my life and setting some little goals to help me get through this month.

A lot has happened to us over the last few months and so going forward I want to get our family life back to a reasonable level of normality again (as much as you can with two crazy kids) as well as also giving thoughts to the school summer holidays that are looming.

With all that in mind here are my July goals that I wanted to share with you guys…

1/ Mission: get Lottie better. After breaking her leg on a trampoline 5 weeks ago, we are now SO ready for our little girl to get that big cast off. We’ve got a ‘how many more sleeps’ chart and are all on countdown for the big day, which is mid-July all being well… *crosses fingers, tightly*. So to be honest the next 4 weeks for me are going to be all about continuing to help her manage and then assisting her rehabilitation when she’s out of the cast.

She’ll need physiotherapy for the first few weeks and I guess we’ll have to just see how she copes further on from that. Looking after her is therefore my top priority for July — and of course, I’ll be busy looking after Harry too.

Really looking forward to seeing her dressing up in my things again.

2/ Running more than 5k. I’m still in training for my 10k race in September with my friends. It’s my first race in about 20 years so I’m feeling very nervous. I’m also finding the training TOUGH in this hot weather…I mean, seriously, not fun. Phew. But, do you know what?, I’m actually feeling better about myself for doing it and my body feels more toned.

So my goal for July is to extend the 5k and to run a few 6k ones by the end of the month. Wish. me. Luck.

3/ Take more photos. I love Instagram and spend a lot of time on it for both personal pleasure and work purposes, however, I have found that over the last 9 months the app has started stifling my creativity for photography. I used to take my DSLR camera everywhere I went, and snap everything and everyone, and loved it. But now I can’t get my mindset out of the ‘must produce a set image for Insta’.

I know what’ll do well (usually me in a new outfit purchase) and what won’t (basically anything else, lol) but I’m at peak boredom of this kind of thinking. For July I therefore want to get back to taking my camera out more, share more family photos, more of my passions, and be more creative with the kind of shots I share both on social media and here on my blog.

I’m at a point where I’d rather be proud and happy with my photos, rather than end up feeling too constrained.

4/ Get on top of my life admin/chores. With 3 weeks to go until the twins break up from primary school for 6 weeks, I want to get jobs done that I’ve been desperate to do for some time. Chores like paint the bathroom, buy bathroom cabinets and mirrors, go through my wardrobe, etc. I just want to make sure that when the summer holidays hit I’m ready to fully relax with them and not be so busy with life, job, chores etc. I’ll keep you posted on this goal!

So that’s probably enough for now to keep me busy and focused this month so I’ll leave it there. Happy July guys…and I hope you have some nice plans ahead for this month.

Love, Jess x

Lottie’s done so well to cope thus far. Especially in this hot weather. You’ve inspired me to think about running again, too. Yep, just on the thinking stage at the mo but it may progress to wearing trainers once it cools down a bit. And I know what you mean about Insta – I know certain room angles and certain products (hello, pink armchair!) do really well but I don’t want to take photos of the same things all the time. How boring would that be?!

It is a GREAT chair though! But yes definitely agree, producing the same content is OK for a while but it can be tedious to share! Here’s to variety and also being more diverse x

Sounds good Jess! Bless Lottie she seems to be doing very well though it must be so frustrating! I am so ready to wind down for the summer but feel like I have to crank it up for the last 3weeks so I can actually properly relax when it comes to the break! I’ve been working so much recently that I’m feeling frazzled and certainly need the break. I hope July goes to plan xx

It must have been so hard on you all watching Lottie go through the pain of breaking her leg, but sounds as if she has been coping really well. Hope she gets back to her normal self really soon. I love doing all the admin and those things you never get around to doing, just before the kids break up. It’s always a nice feeling going into the summer holidays feeling organised, and with a tidy house (well that never lasts but you know lol) x
