Life Lately: plenty of work & new things

My life lately

The twins are really enjoying preschool which is lovely as they have so many little friends. I have actually considered putting them in for more days (they currently do 3) as my work is SO busy lately; I keep swaying from one decision to another. The ‘Mum guilt’ however keeps eating away at me and so I don’t know what to do. I am not sure whether to keep treading water with work as it isn’t long until they start full-time school next September, or just put their hours up now. It’s a tough one and one I can’t make my mind up about. I’ll keep you posted.

Life lately - plans & work

Lottie has started ballet again this week and loved it…even though it is quite early to be there on a Saturday morning! Dave & Harry went to play tennis at David Lloyd gym together which was so cute. Lottie and I had coffee and cake afterwards and we did a little bit of shopping. It was nice to have some 1-2-1 time and just focus on her as I don’t get much time on my own with just one of them.

As I mentioned above work is CRAZY right now! I am not complaining but it has been creeping into my nights and weekends. I have a client that I do social media management for, as well as all my own content and sponsored work to deliver – plus this time of year (the Christmas build-up) is rather busy in this industry anyway.

Blog-wise I have been taking part in some amazing collaborations with brands which is so exciting and I feel really lucky that my inbox is not too quiet!

Even though I have days where I feel as though I am drowning, I am actually thoroughly enjoying the challenge, drive and ambition that working gives me. I definitely love being my own boss and making my own decisions.

The weather has really turned lately over the last few weeks and it does now feel as though Winter has officially arrived. Until now it has been quite mild, however this week there has been ice on car windscreens first thing in the morning, as well as the need for the heating on during the day.

I have therefore been changing what I wear – going for thicker coats, hats and cosier sweaters. One amazing thing about Winter fashion though too is that you CAN wear a hat! This means that I can cover up a messy hair day and attempt to look stylish wearing a bobble hat whilst my hair is greasy and unkept underneath! Win, win. I have picked up this gorgeous pink pom-pom bobble hat from Primark this week for just £2! What a bargain.

I also love my new coat from Laura Ashley (below) that is keeping me very warm in the cold!

I don’t watch all that much TV these days as I am usually on my phone distracted at night or we are busy making dinner etc, but Dave and I have just started watching Westworld, which is a-mazing! It’s very complicated but highly addictive. We have just put a projector in the playroom which we are currently awaiting to paint and make into more of a stylish space. Just need to find a free weekend to crack on now!

I have started planning my Christmas list and am going to start buying things this week. I don’t want to leave it until the last minute and be too stressed this year (fingers crossed). We are having lots of family for the few days over Christmas so we need to be highly organised for food & drink too. It isn’t long now at all – December next week! Where did November go?

So, what have you been up to lately? Are you getting ready for Christmas now?

Love, Jess x

It’s nuts isn’t it? Things have been so busy — I was in London for half of last week and I’m away from my desk for a couple of days this week too so no time at all to catch up. One day I’ll manage to get to the end of my to-do list!!!!! 😉 xx

This might be the oddest question you’ve ever been asked … do your ankles get cold wearing trainers in autumn/winter? I have the coolest pair of trainers that I want to wear with my jeans but my ankles get cold and wearing socks is a bit naff, right? I don’t know what to do!!!

Most days the bare ankles thing is OK but there are days when it is just TOO cold! So I wear boots instead. It’s been quite mild up until now though hasn’t it – for Autumn? I think black socks are just fine with trainers though to make a cool outfit! 🙂 xx

Your coat is gorgeous. It is really hard to find that work life balance. I am struggling at the moment with LL my middle girl, she goes to school in september and only goes into nursery two days a week, yet at the same time I am the busiest I have ever been with my blog. I genuinely don’t know where i get the time to do things. I am determined to keep her off though as I know from experience with her big sister that I would give anything to go back to the pre school days now she is at school and I can’t keep her off home! xx

I know. It feels like a constant juggling act! I don’t know how you manage your workload with a little baby needing you too! But, (as you say a lot), they really don’t stay little long do they? and so you just have to make things work/push back a bit in these early years. I know September will be here SO quickly for me and then I’ll be moaning that I miss them!!!!! LOL xx
