My 5 things on a Friday

Hi everyone, how are you on this Friday? Good I hope. I hope you have a lovely weekend planned.

We had such a fabulous week away on our holidays to Majorca last week. It was such a nice mix of family time and chilled out time too. I’ll do a whole blog post on it shortly so if you’re interested in where we went and stayed, do stay posted.

So as it’s Friday (YAY!) here are the 5 things that I wanted to share with you guys from me this week:

1/ Back to school.

I’ve just pressed ‘order’ for their P.E. kit bags, plus a huge delivery of badged school-wear has just arrived in todays post so I think I’m pretty ready for early next week. The twins are excited about going back; I think they have genuinely missed their friends and teachers, plus I think they’re getting a little bit sick of me and each other.

They go back into year 1 and to the same teacher as last year (the classes are pretty small in our village school) so I’m not feeling anxious or worried for them. I am, however, SO ready for a return to routine and structured days as I am losing the plot now with work, kids, home, fitness, life admin etc etc etc. How I have juggled the last 6 weeks with no childcare is beyond me. But I have, and to be fair, I have mostly loved it. Mostly.

2/ Kittens.

The twins have been asking for a puppy for over a year now which is something I’ve been reluctant about and so has Hubby (for once he’s actually being sensible and we’re both aligned on something). I didn’t want to turn into *that* mother that doesn’t want her house to be in utter chaos or be a mess because of a pet, but at the same time the thought of having to walk an excited dog every day (in the depths of winter) and go back to almost having a baby in the house again terrifies the life out me.

We’ve thus all chatted and compromised on a kitten and so we’re picking two up this weekend. Yes two. They are brother and sister and are THE CUTEST THINGS I HAVE EVER SEEN in my entire life. The twins have been out and bought everything for them and I’ve got a feeling they’re going to be pretty spoilt. Prepare for kitten spam coming your way soon.

3/ I’ve been listening.

I am loving the podcast ‘The High Low’ by Dolly Alderton & Pandora Sykes and listened to a few episodes whilst on holiday under a parasol on the beach. I am excited for them to return from their summer break and start listening to their chat again. I feel as though it’s my weekly news update with a large dose of intellect from two smart and sassy, modern women. If you haven’t listened (you SO should) you can find the link here.

4/ Work.

Like I say work has been coming in thick and fast (and when you’re freelance that’s nothing but bloody good news) but as it’s been the school summer holidays it’s been a challenge to keep all the plates spinning. I’ve been trying to manage it all around entertaining the twins and I’ve been absolutely winning on some days and then failing miserably on others.

Next week I am going to get back to my regime of planning my weekly diary again and making sure I get some deadlines delivered. I wrote it out in a blog post here in November and it’s great as then I know exactly what I’ll be waking up to each day and what needs delivering. This stops me faffing around SO much during the day and ends all the procrastination.

5/ Clothes.

And finally here are the clothes, accessories and the home-ware that I’ve got in my online shopping basket to hopefully check-out on a few new things this weekend too. It’s got an autumn/winter feel and there’s some gorgeous pieces.

Happy Friday, and weekend guys.

Love, Jess x
