My 5 things on a Friday

Hi, how are you on this Friday? Good I hope. I hope you have a lovely weekend planned.

I am actually going to make this my last blog post of the year. I figured that you all have FAR more important things to do over the next few weeks, such as nativity plays, Christmas work parties, present buying etc and that we can all kick back and start afresh in the new year. I’ll still be over on Instagram posting my festive family pics, but for now, this is my last blog post for 2018!

So, for the last time in 2018, here are the 5 things that I wanted to share with you guys that I’ve been into this week:

1. LISTENING

I have really enjoyed the first few episodes from the new podcast, The Success Revolution, by the highly motivated and clever women behind the The Step Club. It has been great for helping me with where my head is at right now, i.e. thinking about a new challenge in 2019, potentially going back to my skills and experiences before children (BC), as well as defining what success really means to me as a person. I particularly enjoyed the Farrah Storr episode. Do go and check it out.

2. TURNING FORTY

I posted onto Instagram a quote this week that said “Life really does begin at forty. Up until then, you are just doing research”, Carl G Jung. I love this quote. I said on my post that I was feeling a mixture of nervous and apprehensive about turning forty in a few weeks (and leaving another decade behind me), as well as excited and ready for the next stage of my life. Lots of lovely women commented and said that forty + is an amazing age and that I’ll love it.

I am feeling ready for my big birthday in December and for the next life chapter. I’ve decided to fully embrace it and celebrate the birthday in style. So cheers…and let’s raise a glass to that!

3. DECEMBER

As I said in the introduction I have decided to drastically reduce my blog and influencer workload for December and focus on enjoying the festive period with my close family. I want to use the time to get all my shopping done, enjoy how excited the children are right now (which is A LOT) and just generally not be a stressy-mess for the month ahead. I also think I desperately need the time to re-energise my passion and creativity once more, plus give myself some reflecting time on everything I have done this year.

4. YOGA

It’s been too dark, cold and wet to run lately so I have changed my fitness routine to more HIIT and home-gym workouts, as well as doing yoga. And oh-my-god…it’s amazing, isn’t it? I was sceptical about it before, as I thought I’d rather spend my time sweating and leaping around, however the weekly cardio combined with the yoga is working so well for me. Plus, as a person who lives life at a hundred miles an hour and never sits still, I think it’s been good for me to slowwwwwww down. The mindfulness will be great for me, plus flexibility and core work is a real weakness of mine.

I’m literally just still in the early beginners stage and am figuring out the best teachers to follow, but I’m already obsessed. 

5. AND FINALLY, THANKS

    Aw I ‘m kind of sad that you won’t be blogging again until the new year but on the other hand, I understand exactly why you’re stepping back. I don’t really see my blog as ‘work’ yet so actually use it as a form of creative escapism so reckon I’ll probably be blogging more with a little time over the Christmas holidays. I don’t know, we will see. I generally don’t post more than once a month anyway. I’m excited to find out where you’re going with everything next year – you’re an inspiration Jess! Much love to you and yours this Christmas. xxx

    Hope you have a lovely Christmas, Jess, and a fab birthday in December. It sounds like a great plan to stop blogging in time for the Xmas rush, I have a couple of posts I want to do this month but then I’m looking forward to a nice break over the hols. I love yoga too and I can really recommend Nadia Narain’s DVDs (I use the ones for stress relief and strength and stability). I do one of them every morning now and I think they make a huge difference to my mood. xx

    I will miss your blog in Decemeber and especially your Friday posts ( my favorite ). Have a great 40th (love that quote you posted) birthday and Christmas with your family! Keep up with the yoga – I am a yoga teacher and pracitioner (15 yrs ) and 48. I can attest: BEST thing for ageing EVER. Happy Holidays!

    Aw I’ll miss my Tuesday and Thursday morning catch ups on your blog through december Jess. I always come back from the preschool drop off on those days, sit down with a a cuppa and catch up on a few blogs, yours being one of them! I’ll be sure to follow what you’re up to over on IG, and in the meantime, have a lovely relaxed December. Amelia x
