Our 2018 travel plans

Like a lot of people over the last month, Dave and I have been spending hours in the evening scrolling through online travel companies to seek out good deals on summer holidays. This is in a bid to inject some excitement into our year (because it’s SO nice having something to look forward to, isn’t it?).

We promised the twins a beach holiday this year because they have been doing great with their swimming lessons every week, and have both improved in confidence and ability. Going to the swimming pool at the weekend is something they absolutely love to do and so we knew that they would love to go abroad this year and have plenty of fun swimming and splashing about in the glorious sunshine.

We really enjoyed our first family holidays away with Mark Warner to Rhodes and then Kos – but this year we fancied something a little different, and also, going slightly earlier.

We have thus just booked a week away to Gran Canaria at Easter. Which is only 8 weeks away and not long to wait at all (runs and puts gym gear on and does several crunches!). But seriously, I can’t wait to chill, drink cocktails, have fun by the pool, get a tan and spend some time with my besties.

We have got some other ideas regarding travel for later in 2018 too. We also plan to have a family UK mini-break during the summer holidays; possibly visiting the seaside for a few days. Perhaps a cottage over a long weekend in August when the twins are off school, and hopefully somewhere that we haven’t explored yet.

Also, as I will be 40 at the end of the year (OMG!) so the plan is to have a kid-free city break. I really fancy Barcelona or Paris (Dave and I have never been to either). I’m so excited at the thought of it already – plenty of food, drink, relaxing, sightseeing and shopping…because I will HAVE to come back with a birthday present purchase. Perhaps Chanel or Gucci. Them’s the rules.

So here is my dream wardrobe for travelling towards the sunshine for this year:

I love your travel plans. I 100% recommend Barcelona for your city break. The tapas there is amazing and the beaches are lovely too. If you’re going as just a couple you need to check out a spa called ‘Aire De Barcelona’. It’s a standalone spa and it’s underground and it’s incredible. You can just go and use the pools, or you can have treatments and it’s so reasonably priced. I went by myself when I went to Barcelona with my toddler. She stayed with her Dad while I had an hour of pampering and it was bliss. It was so romantic down there though, I definitely recommend it for couples. Plus you can have champagne and truffles too! Perfect birthday treat! Plus the shopping in Barcelona is AMAZING. x

I love planning our holidays at the start of the year, and I agree that it is SO nice to have something to look forward to. I think Easter is a great time to go away, and we usually go away at this time of year too. Not this year as the eldest has GCSEs coming up in May (argh). You definitely need an adult break away for your special birthday, it’s the law x

Easter feels like a fab time to go – not too long to wait and it has made us excited for the next few months! Hopefully when we get back it’ll be warmer too and we will be ready for UK summer xx
