Our spring plans

Even though many parts of the UK were covered in a thick blanket of snow lately, (which has been playing havoc with all of our plans for an early appearance of any warm weather) I’m ignoring the crazy weather and instead focusing my mind on spring (yay!). They say that spring in the UK officially starts on 20th March 2018, which is next week. I’m craving things like flowers, walking to school, lush green grass, park trips and ice-creams.

We’ve got quite a few plans coming up over the next few weeks, which I’m starting to get excited about. In my life, I literally ALWAYS need things to look forward to — they really help to keep me happy and motivated. I love my diary full of exciting plans otherwise I tend to get a bit moany (and no-one wants that now, do they?!).

Anyway, here is what is going on for me and my little family over the spring…

1// Easter break.

We had a late February half-term and so this school term feels really short now (Harry & Lottie break up for the Easter holidays the day before Good Friday). Not only am I looking forward to Dave having a nice long Easter weekend, it’ll also be good for the twins to have some time off school and to spend some time at home (as long as they’re not arguing though!).

After the Easter weekend I’m then going to go and see my Sister and her two children in Hertfordshire, which will be lovely to spend some time with them and seeing the crazy gang of cousins all together!

2// Holiday abroad.

SO excited about this! We’re off to Gran Canaria the second week of the Easter holidays, for a week. WHOOOP. I cannot wait to get some heat and to relax. It’ll be lovely to have a week away from home and spend time together. We are staying near Puerto Mogan and have a lovely hotel with a short walk to the beach.

I have already got our suitcases out and am busy checking out what we need. I’m not going to lie — there’s a LOT of straw going on this holiday! Like I said in this post here I have a list of the clothes and accessories to buy for us all and right now I am scouring websites and ordering things for us like crazy.

3// House update.

In the last few weeks I’ve been determined to finish off some house projects; they feel like they have been bugging me lately. Even though we’re in a new-build home and there isn’t ‘big work’ to do, we haven’t quite finished some things off. We need new blinds pretty much throughout all of downstairs, so I’ve been getting quotes to have wooden venetian blinds fitted. This is not only for practical reasons, i.e. to keep out the sunshine and for privacy, but I think this will bring a more homely feel to the rooms, as they still look a bit bare. I can’t wait to make a decision and get started.

I also want some other jobs doing such as shelving putting up in my office, adding lots of new prints onto our walls, getting more plants and new furniture in a few rooms (such as bedside tables, as I really hate our old black IKEA ones!).

I’ve got Dave charging his drill as we speak 😉

4// Werk werk werk.

Omg last week — I haven’t worked that hard in ages! Two huge deadlines were suddenly changed and I really busted a gut to get them delivered. Phew. This is the nature of blogging though; some weeks I am quiet and some weeks I can’t edit photos or write words quick enough.

I have a few more projects scheduled in to deliver over the next week or so but then I plan to have Easter off. I’ll upload some Instagram photos of my holiday (because I want to), but won’t get back to my blog until after the twins go back to school. Hopefully it’ll help me to switch off and be present with my family on holiday, plus it might even give me some lovely new creative ideas that I need.

So an exciting few months or so ahead for us — and lots to look forward to!

What have you guys got planned for spring?

Love, Jess x

I do think it’s important to have some proper time off every now and again. It really helps to get the motivation going again too. Sounds like you’ve got loads of lovely bits and pieces planned 🙂 xx
