I’m not going to start this blog post by disrespectfully dissing summer because, quite frankly, the summer of 2018 was one of the best that my family and I experienced in a long time. The days were blissfully warm and the evenings seemed to last forever. Being outside for 98.9% of the day was nothing but pure heaven.
One advantage too was being able to wear clothes as if you lived on a Balearic Island. Maxi dresses, oversized shades and sandals and you were good to go. Utter perfection.
Oh, autumn winter fashion. You’re here. And I am so happy. Yes it IS sad that summer is now gone and that it’s colder outside, but it has. Seasons come and go and it’ll be back again next year before we know it. We’ll all soon be sweaty again and moaning that we can’t get a good night’s sleep anymore. Lol.
Autumn winter style, for me, is like the smell of a Diptyque candle burning in our hallway, or the sound of crunchy leaves underfoot, or the feeling of sitting in front of the TV with a fire roaring on a dark night. It’s akin to hot chocolate, vegetable soup, cashmere or being under a cosy blanket.
The fashion is comfortable and practical yes, however, there’s something extraordinarily chic and classy about the whole season. There’s far less flesh on show than in the summer months and the individual pieces seem to stand out for themselves.
I feel so confident in a good coat or a statement pair of boots than I ever do in a floaty, beach dress with a pair of flat slides.
Plus the textures, the patterns, the quality. The colours.
And this season, with the explosion of leopard print EVERYWHERE and brown being deemed the new black, I am literally like a pig in shit. I couldn’t be any happier right now because all the trends are my ultimate go-to styles. 70’s vibes are in, as are pleated skirts, checked blazers, burnt orange and suede cowboy boots. Oh my.
So watch out (and, sincere apologies) for me getting much more self-assured and smug over the next few weeks on here and Instagram and thus sharing my autumn outfits. I can’t help it. I’m like a moth to a tan, corduroy, checked flame.
And don’t worry…because soon it’ll be spring summer all over again and I’ll be crawling under the nearest a rock to hide away from it all.
