Creating a festive corner

Creating a festive corner in our home

Over the weekend I saw many a Christmas tree go up in peoples homes via Instagram…family houses have started getting very festive indeed! Whilst it is still a little too early for us at the moment (we might get our real tree around the 10th Dec) some festive touches have started creeping into our family home already. Because, who can resist the lure of a wicker star or a scented candle?!

Now that it’s rather cold outside and incredibly dark early in the evening, our family has been spending FAR more time indoors together. After preschool and work we just want to be snuggled up in the warm. I like a hot cup of tea and we like to get under a blanket, watch TV and chill.

For interior design, the influences of the Scandinavian trend continue to appeal to me and I therefore want this to carry into and over the festive period too. I am thinking decorations and accessories that have the accents white, grey, wood, greenery, foliage, fur and silver.

I have created a cosy corner today in our living room, relatively inexpensively but I am so happy with the look.

The eucalyptus leaves were from a market stall in town today for £7 and the little potted real tree from Tesco for just £3.

The little wooden tree is Paperchase (last year) and the larger wooden tree from HomeSense this season. The large star is from last winter from Graham & Brown, however lit wall art is really hot again this season and you can find it everywhere on the high street.

I love all of these colours together and believe that it gives our family room a really stylish and chic feeling – without going too over the festive top!

Have you started introducing any festive touches into your home yet? When do you get your tree?

Love, Jess x

Your little festive corner looks beautiful! I particularly love that little wooden tree and the large star.
If it was up to my kids we would already have the tree and all the decorations up but I rather wait a little bit more

I love your little festive corner, we finally put our tree up last night, which is late for us. I still have lots of finishing touches to do. Christmas is creeping up on me too fast this year. x
