Doing up houses and on the move

Chester (107)

We’re considering selling the house soon. Hubby and I are currently discussing where and when to move.

Something that we have been talking about for some time.

We want to move into a slightly bigger house (4 bedrooms). And we want to be near good schools. However, we have no idea about area yet.

Which got me thinking as to how much we’ve moved since being together over the last 10 years! We’ve lived together in one flat in Chester, then a house in Chester, then this house in North Wales (which is when our twins were born!).

Apart from the fully-furnished, modern flat we rented, we’ve pretty much gutted and re-done the two houses we’ve owned. New kitchens, bathrooms, decorating, landscaping the gardens…the list is endless!

This time I’m FAR less keen to renovate. With our two little monkey’s in tow this time…I’m less enthused to live with mess, dust and upheaval. When we did it before it was easy. Hubby and I could just eat take-outs and live in the bedroom…but not so easy now with two 2.5 year olds!

I will keep you posted on our plans.

For now here’s Hubby and I working hard over the last few years on our properties!

I know what you mean, we’ve gutted and renovated our last two houses – and I love the end results but I’m not sure I could go through it all again!! Wish you were moving down near me 😉 Thanks for linking up to #mycapturedmoment xxxx

No I know, it’s lovely (the end result) but can’t imagine managing it with two little people about!! Maybe if we did it before we moved it, then that would be OK! Would LOVE to live by you!! Jess xx

Wow looks like you’ve done a fab job! We really want to move to a bigger house but really unsure of area at the moment and need to get a wriggle on to find the right school for Finley who starts next September xx #mycapturedmoment

Same here, although we have a little more time as the twins don’t go until next year. Good luck! Jess x

Thank you. We’re pretty much done here now, nothing else to tackle! We’re on the move soon (hopefully) and hoping not to take on too much! Jess x

When we were looking for our current house, we said we didn’t want a project… We bought the biggest project ever! We have done many projects over the years, but this will be our biggest 🙂 Good luck with your next move, if that’s what you decide to do! #mycapturedmoment

I think Dave and Dickie were separated at birth..?! We have SO many pics of my boy in similar poses!! 🙂

We have bought and sold 4 houses over the years and have renovated each one ourselves — the last one (the one we’re in now) thankfully didn’t need anything structural doing (as all the others have) but we’ve still painted, sanded, filled and generally redone everything to make it feel like home!! The kitchen is a bone of contention — it’s dire and we need to redo it — but these things take money don’t they?! And time.

Both of which are in short supply at the mo!! xx

Yes they do! Houses are money-drains and never stop needing work! But, they’re a labour of love too – and makes you feel very satisfied when you work so hard on a property! Thanks for the lovely comment, Jess x

I love that you and your hubby have renovated your homes together, makes it so much more special and creates great memories ! But I feel you on not being so keen with the kiddies ! Goodluck with your new move when you decide, look forward to reading about it x

I know exactly what you mean. My husband and I have lived in completely gutted properties while we have been doing them up. Went to work with paint in my hair and not having showered as we didn’t have water working yet…there is no way I’d want to do that with my two boys in tow! I hope you find some place really lovely that is ready to be lived in without too much work! 🙂 xx

Oh exciting news! Yes it’s a bit different when you have two little ones running around… You need the kitchen and the bathroom at least… Having said that you seem yo be used to it and very confident about doing works so why not! We bought a place last year where we thought there wasn’t much to do but it’s an old house so the list is actually endless… Good luck! Xx #mycapturedmoment

The list is always endless, unless you’re in a brand new spanking home – and then you want to change things! I’m the kind of person that can’t stop tinkering either…so who knows! Thanks and good luck with yours xx

It’s great fun doing up a house but I’m with you on the daunting prospect of doing it with toddlers! I’m sure you’ll manage though, you don’t seem like the kind of person that lets things phase you Jess! xx

True!! Although I do get stressed when I’ve a lot on! It’s nice to be quieter sometimes isn’t it?! Although I am a gluten for punishment! Thanks for commenting, Jess x

I love that you’ve renovated houses! We are on the lookout for a development project now that we are relocating back to the UK.

I can’t wait to get my teeth into something that we can personalise and make our own. Not looking forward to containing two toddlers though. x

I love seeing that I’m not the only nut case that does this all of the time! I’m now a property developer so it never ends its great seeing what you achieved at the end though
