Getting cosy by the fire

September has well and truly arrived…and so for me it is now all about the slippers, blankets, warm drinks in front of the fire. Once the light starts fading, and the darker evenings arrive, I just want to be at home and wrapped up with my family.

When we moved into our new build home just over 6 weeks ago we thought we had covered everything. New carpets, tiles, flooring, turf outside. All ordered and fitted beautifully. However, we completely and totally overlooked ensuring we had a fireplace & fire for our new home.

Our living room has therefore felt so bare, cold and ‘lost’ without one.

We absolutely need one for the months ahead. Plus a fireplace in the centre of a feature wall is a focal point for the eye. Lately the room just hasn’t felt finished. It’s been lacking that something. have the most amazing range; such a large selection of fireplaces to choose from. I love the different styles and looks.

Hubby and I both agree that we are going to go fairly modern this time – as this style will compliment our new house perfectly. And because we have no chimney – we need an electric fireplace suite, for that warm glow, and burst of instant heat on cold nights.

Here are some of my favourites below:

1/ Westcroft electric fireplace by Be Modern – £389.99

2/ Perthshire electric fireplace suite by Be Modern – £305.98

3/ Carina Eco electric suite by Be Modern – £392.59

4/ Back wall mounted fire in dark grey by Dimplex – £ 261.99

5/ Orlando wall mounted electric fire by Be Modern – £269.69

I feel a little spoilt for choice. I simply cannot pick! Do we go for one with a fire surround (as I love accessorising them) or a super-sleek modern wall mounted piece?

Which ones do you like?

One thing is for sure – we need to make sure our home is ready for THE big day this year…aka Christmas morning! We have a lot of my family staying with us for a few days during the special event and so our new fire really will be at the heart of this magical day and wonderful time.

I do love real fires but they are such a hassle, make mess and I hate smoke so these are a great alternative! x

We had a real fire before and it was lush – BUT very dirty and lots of smoke!!! I agree, these aren’t as pretty but a very great alternative! xx

No modern wall mounted one for me — I’d go with a fire surround — no contest!! I LOVE being able to hang stockings and display candles and garlands and Christmas. Plus where would I put wedding invitations if I didn’t have a mantlepiece?! I like your first choice — The Westcroft — best 🙂 xx

We lived in our house for 14 years before we got a fire place and it was the best thing we did. We went for a modern marble surround and a modern electric fire. I love changing my accessories on the mantelpiece with the seasons, though it can sometimes be a dumping ground for post and phones lol x

Yes true – but I know what you mean. It does just ‘make’ a room doesn’t it? Excited to get one now thanks love! xx

These fires are nice and I agree that a surround is a must! I’ve seen some modern fires without any surrounds and it looks like they’re missing something. I am also looking at fires and really like the Gazco b/f fires with the sorrento suite… currently saving for this!!

    First i thought it’s a real fire.
But after taking close look i found out that these are artificial.

BTW, It add an awesome, warm and cozy feel to the room.
    Thanks for the cool share.
