Ever since we moved into our new build home 6 months ago, one of my favourite functional rooms (aside from the playroom) has been my home office. Oh, I love it. I adore being able to have a space that is solely for my writing and creativity – it definitely helps having a separate space away from the rest of the home, that is free from distraction.
I write in there a lot during the week and use it a great deal in the evenings too, once the children are in bed. I can also keep our home files and folders in here, as well as the technology and ALL the charging wires that go with them!
I realised recently that most of the images that I have been pinning on Pinterest, via my board ‘dream home offices’ have been fairly neutral. Very modern, simple, chic and minimalist. White…with a hint of glamour. And I do like a home office to look and appear tidy and neat.
And so, thoroughly inspired by Pinterest (who isn’t??) when I was in pursuit of a new office chair – I decided to go with a white, padded one. This executive one from Wayfair is gorgeous and I am so happy with it. It looks so stylish and trendy and really compliments my desk and the colour scheme. Yet is really comfortable. The mid-back height is fine, and I don’t feel as though I am slouching despite this. I am sitting back in the seat and it is very comfortable. The height adjusts too, which is handy when my tall Husband wants to sit down and use the iMac! I even assembled it myself when it arrived! Very easy!
An office also needs to be practical as well as looking good too. Let’s be honest. And so storage is therefore essential to any home study – keeping files and paperwork out of sight and ordered is really important. This brilliant trolley 3-drawer filing cabinet from Wayfair is perfect. It sits nicely underneath the white desk that my clever Hubby built me, and can be placed on wheels too – for easy moving whenever I need to put it somewhere else. It has made a big difference to keeping a tidy home office already!
There is now absolutely NO excuse not to meet all my monthly deadlines and get as creative as possible, is there?
Love, Jess x
