So after all the complaining by MANY of us on social media at just how cold, wet and miserable the weather has been lately (SO grey outside) – out of the blue came the most glorious of weeks and a UK heatwave! The windows have been flung open of our family home, the freezer stocked up with ice lollies and our moods have all been lifted! I had to dig deep in my wardrobe and find my summer clothes again past all the jeans and sweaters that I have been wearing on repeat!
One of the best things about the arrival of the hot weather is that our garden finally becomes a space to use once more. This week, the patio doors have been permanently open; making the garden accessible and creating an extension of our home. It’s been SO nice to see the twins getting home from preschool and bouncing on the trampoline, playing water hose fights and generally enjoying being out in the fresh air.
We also love, love, love dining al fresco too – setting our patio table full of delicious food and eating together in the evening sunshine. It’s one of the nicest ways to spend some time together, away from chores and technology.
Sainsbury’s have a new summer campaign called ‘Out Out Out’, aimed at encouraging people to head outdoors to eat their meals and enjoy the English summer. They have some amazing new ranges of melamine homeware for families, for al fresco dining.
The lovely people there have been incredibly kind and sent me one of their beautiful new ranges this week (Hinterland) – in time for the bank holiday weekend, and heatwave! With it’s orange & blue colours and stylish patterns it feels very Moroccan. It has a luxury feel about it too. The earthy colours and tribal designs give it a really artisan look and feel.

We made one of Sainsbury’s recipes from their summer range. We went for the tofu, seeing as neither Dave or I have tried it before. Here’s the one we used and what it looked like!

We’re definitely excited to spend plenty of our time outside this summer; to enjoy more family BBQ’s and picnics together in the great outdoors! Out Out Out!
