The twins get single beds with Emma Mattress

A new mattress with EMMA

When the twins (who sleep in separate bedrooms) were ready, we removed the sides off their cots and turned them into super-cute toddler beds. They were, in fact, pretty good at adapting to these new beds – I think Harry got out of it a lot for a few nights – but then they mostly ‘got on with it’. They have always have been so good at bedtime and we have been lucky really.

However, Harry & Lottie are now 4 years & 3 months old and have both been literally filling the whole of these toddler beds! They looked so big sleeping in them that I felt guilty! It was absolutely time to change them.

Getting the bed frames was a pretty easy task as there as so many options online but getting a good mattress was something that was important to us.

But where to turn?

Good quality sleep is absolutely vital for children, even more so than any other age group as they are constantly developing & growing. According to the experts, we should be changing our mattress every 5-10 years. Here’s what we considered when shopping for the twins mattress:

  • Children move much more than adults so the mattress needs to respond to this.
  • Children weigh less & are smaller than adults so the mattress needs to be more supportive.
  • They are constantly changing so something that reinforces this.

We were very kindly sent two single mattresses from the lovely people from Emma, who claim that these are a ‘one mattress fits all‘. They also offer a 100 day guarantee along with a 10 year warrantee. They are £349 each.

Both mattresses arrived in boxes, which was brilliant for ease of delivery. After we opened them both the mattresses grew to their original size within 5 minutes! The twins were so excited and were squealing “It’s done Mummy!”.

We popped them both onto their new matching white bed frames, which we had previously ordered online.

Harry & Lottie both slept so well on the first night and have done ever since – calling them their “Big beds”, which is super cute. The quality of the mattress is superb and they are incredibly comfortable too. The mattress has maximum adaptability through the optimized combination of a decompressing Hypersoft-layer, pressure-relieving pocket springs, visco-elastic memory foam and a supporting layer of cold foam.

I am absolutely delighted with the choice and the beds have transformed their rooms into proper boy & girl bedrooms.

The only thing now though is that I want to re-decorate their rooms, again! So watch this space!

We’re in the process of sorting out the boys bedrooms. We’re getting a loft conversion this summer once Brandon has finished his GCSE’s so he’ll be uo in the loft room and Archie will finally be moving out of our room into his brothers old room. We’ve got so much to decide on, the new beds being one of them. I’m going to have a nosy at Emma mattresses as the old IKEA ones just aren’t worth keeping

They both look so delighted with their new beds and mattresses Jess! We were only saying earlier today that we need to get Freddie a new single bed as he’s still in toddler bed (which was also his cot before that too!). Love the beds- where are they from? X

Ah, they look so pleased with their big kid beds! Jasmine only has a cot (not a cot bed) so I think we’ll save ourselves the expense and move her straight into a single bed when we move house. Emma mattresses sound fab. Also love Harry and Lottie’s beds too – where are they from?

Our boys ill be going into separate bedrooms when our garage conversion is finished and we need new beds, their bunk beds don’t separate. These mattresses look fab, and I love both of their bedding.

Bless them — they’re chuffed to bits aren’t they?! The boys still fall out of their toddler beds — I can’t imagine them in proper singles!!! I love this new breed of mattress, that come in a box! SO fabulous!!!! 🙂 I might look at getting one for our second guest room — save trying to cart a full size mattress up to the top floor!!! xx #HomeEtc
