Our weekend: Father Christmas & getting the tree

Decorating the Christmas tree with the kids.

This monthΒ has already been so magical. I worked out (and shocked myself) that this will be the twins 4th Christmas! But as they are going to be 3 years and 3 months this year, this feels the best one yet. The twins are at such a fantastic age – full of wonder and excitement and have just loved everything that we have done so far.

Christmas tree decorations - with the kids.

Over the weekend we went to a Christmas Fair and saw a puppet show and picked up some gifts and decorations. It was so nice to be able to walk around with them, chat to them and see their little faces light up. They are becoming so much easier to take out; it is such a nice experience.

We also saw Father Christmas on Sunday too which was amazing – and as it was quiet they got to chat to him, tell him what they want for Christmas and get some chocolates!

One of the big highlights of the weekend though was getting the Christmas tree. It took us (me) some time to pick it…well it is such a big decision! We went for a real tree, a 6ft one and it now proudly sits in the living room.

In our previous home we never really had any ‘perfect Christmas tree corners’ (if that makes sense). In every corner of the downstairs of the property the tree was either blocking something or obstructing a doorway. In our new family home however, our living room is such a lovely size, and it sits perfectly in the bay window. Sparkling and glittering in the window!

Harry & Lottie loved helping and (surprisingly) they were really good! I didn’t have to correct it after they had gone to bed! They hung the baubles on and thought the whole process was such fun. They ran down the next morning and couldn’t wait to see the tree!

I am feeling so festive now and very excited about the next few weeks ahead. Just got to finish the presents and wrap them all – and get all the food ready to feed 10 people on Christmas Day! Eeeeek!

Happy Christmas x

Such an exciting time of year. We have been doing so many Christmas related things too. Saw Santa last weekend and yesterday I got our tree and decorated it. It’s the girls 3rd Christmas as they are 2 years and 3 months. I’m sure next year will be even more amazing but they really are aware this year. Xxx

Gorgeous photos, Jess. It’s so nice now that the children can be involved and understand what a lovely time of year, it is. J is a bit black and white like me, so despite being just five, he’s not a full believer in Father Christmas. I’m trying to sell the magic of the season to him but he has so many questions. I hope I can convince him for a few years x

Ahhhh I think that’s okay, as long as he’s happy it’s cool! It is nice to get them involved this year – yay for this year !! πŸ™‚ xx

Love your tree Jess and the pictures with Father Christmas. We have yet to put our tree up (gasp) but will hopefully do it this weekend. This time of year is so full of wonder and amazement for the little ones. I really miss those exciting times but time for us to make new memories xx

Fabulous photos, Jess. We always get a real tree and it makes such a difference. It is magical. I love the fact that Harry and Lottie helped you decorate the tree. Little Miss H didn’t quite understand tree decorating. We ended up with five red baubles on one branch. But this is such a magical time of year and I love seeing it through Little Miss H’s eyes. Hugs Mrs H xxxx
