I don’t know why…maybe it’s because Lottie has recently broken her leg and is recovering, maybe they’re just older and easier this time around, or maybe it’s because I’m in a better place with my work/life balance…but I don’t have that dreaded pressure of the six-week school summer holidays being here already. In fact, I’m delighted and feeling really positive.
I’ve had it in previous years. The thought of entertaining them both for six whole weeks, on my own, has been overwhelming. And once you’ve done the park four times, the cinema, soft play, the woods and a few playdates — and you’re STILL only two weeks in — it can be exhausting. Plus all the bickering.
But like I say, this summer feels different already.
Our summer holidays are starting off slow. And I mean s..l..o..w. We have literally no plans as yet. Nothing. Lots of my lovely friends have invited us to do things (which we will) but for now I’m starting our break with very little in the diary. It’ll be movies, garden play, hanging out at home, crafts, short walks and some iPad time, for now.
I want Lottie to be recovered before we start walking anywhere too far or for her to be climbing and jumping in the park with friends. I’m still feeling a nervous wreck about her leg at the moment (regarding her doing too much too quickly). So hopefully she’ll build up more strength in and around our home and then we can plan more adventure in as the weeks go on.
We’re ending the six week summer holidays with a week’s holiday to Palma Nova, Majorca (which we cannot wait for) and so that will be a FAB end to the summer. I am so excited to have a week with Dave too and for us all to be together and to make some amazing family memories again. Summer holidays absolutely rock.
What are you guys up to? Any plans? Hope you enjoy yours too.
